Core Coins Terms and Conditions
Core Coins is a free promotional loyalty programme offered by Core Catering Supplies and all its related Franchises / Branches (who may in fact be registered as individual companies) through their online presence, unless otherwise indicated or advised, to customers shopping on corecatering.co.za while signed into their customer account.
Core Coins are promotional loyalty credits awarded by Core Catering Supplies at no separate cost to the customer. Customers do not purchase Core Coins and no portion of the purchase price is accepted by us in exchange for Core Coins.
These terms apply specifically to Core Coins and are in addition to our general Terms and Conditions. Our Privacy Policy, POPIA Notice and Refund and Returns Policy continue to apply.
For avoidance of doubt, the Core Coins Terms and Conditions shall override the general Core Catering Supplies Terms and Conditions where they conflict.
In these terms, “customer account” means the website login account, not a credit account.
1. What a Core Coin is worth
One Core Coin has a redemption value of one cent (R0.01). One hundred Core Coins therefore have a redemption value of R1.00.
When Core Coins are redeemed, each Core Coin reduces the amount payable for eligible products by one cent, including VAT.
Core Coins are a discount off the price, not a form of payment.
Core Coins are promotional loyalty credits only and are not cash, money, deposits, stored value or a financial product.
2. Earning Core Coins
Customers earn Core Coins equal to 1% of the value of eligible products purchased online.
The 1% is calculated on the product value excluding VAT, after any discounts have been applied and excluding delivery charges.
Delivery fees and any other non-product charges do not earn Core Coins.
Core Catering Supplies may from time to time offer different earning rates, bonus Core Coins or product-specific promotions.
3. When Core Coins are credited
Core Coins are credited once payment for an order has been confirmed, and not merely when an order is placed.
Card payments will usually be confirmed within minutes. Bank transfer and EFT orders remain pending until payment has been received and allocated.
Any Core Coins displayed before payment confirmation are an estimate of what the order is expected to earn and do not form part of the customer’s available Core Coins balance until credited.
4. Customers must be signed in
Only eligible orders placed while signed into a customer account earn Core Coins.
Guest orders do not earn Core Coins automatically, except where subsequently claimed in accordance with clause 9.
5. Where Core Coins apply
Core Coins apply only to eligible orders placed and paid for through corecatering.co.za.
Core Coins are not earned and may not be redeemed on branch or showroom purchases, orders placed by telephone, email or in person, orders created by our staff on behalf of customers, or quotation requests that are not placed and paid for through the website.
6. Who may participate
Customers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid customer account on our website.
Each customer may maintain one Core Coins account unless Core Catering Supplies expressly permits otherwise.
Where a customer account is held by a company, close corporation, trust, partnership or other entity, the Core Coins belong to that customer account and not to the individual authorised user operating the account.
Our employees, directors, contractors and agents, and any account holding an internal staff or administrator, may not earn or redeem Core Coins unless Core Catering Supplies expressly determines otherwise in writing.
7. Welcome discount
New customers may qualify for a once-off R100 welcome discount on their first eligible order containing at least R1,000 worth of products, excluding VAT and delivery, placed while signed into their customer account.
The welcome discount is a separate promotional benefit. It is not Core Coins and does not form part of the customer’s Core Coins balance.
The welcome discount:
- is available once per customer only, irrespective of how many customer accounts, email addresses, telephone numbers, delivery addresses or other details that customer may use;
- cannot be combined with another promotional coupon code;
- may be combined with Core Coins already held by the customer;
- does not apply to delivery charges; and
- is only regarded as used once payment for the qualifying order has been confirmed.
The creation or use of a new or additional customer account does not create a further entitlement to the welcome discount. Core Catering Supplies may, in its sole discretion, determine whether accounts or orders relate to the same customer and may consider information including the customer’s name, business or trading name, billing or delivery address, email address, telephone number, payment details and previous order history.
Where Core Catering Supplies reasonably determines that the same customer has created or used multiple accounts for the purpose of obtaining the welcome discount more than once, we may refuse or reverse the discount and may suspend or close the relevant accounts.
Our determination as to eligibility for the welcome discount will be final, subject to applicable law.
8. Spending Core Coins
Core Coins may be redeemed once the customer’s available balance reaches 5,000 Core Coins, equivalent to R50.00.
Core Coins may be redeemed as a discount of up to the full value of eligible products on an order, including VAT, but may not be applied against delivery charges.
Core Coins are never applied automatically. Customers choose at checkout whether to redeem them and how many they wish to use.
If a customer attempts to redeem more Core Coins than are available or permitted, the website may automatically apply the maximum amount available and permitted.
Core Coins used on an order are deducted from the customer’s available balance when the order is placed so that the same Core Coins cannot be used simultaneously against another order.
9. Guest orders
A guest order does not earn Core Coins automatically.
A customer may, however, claim the Core Coins attributable to a guest order by creating a customer account from the order confirmation page or through the secure link contained in the order confirmation email within 30 days after placing the order.
The customer account must use the same email address as the guest order.
We do not automatically attach historical orders to an account merely because the email address matches, and Core Coins will not be backdated to orders placed before joining the programme except as specifically provided for in this clause.
After 30 days, an unclaimed guest order will no longer qualify for Core Coins.
10. Cancellations, returns and refunds
If an order is cancelled, fails or is refunded, any Core Coins earned on that order will be reversed.
Where only part of an order is refunded, the Core Coins attributable to the refunded products will be reversed.
If Core Coins were redeemed against an order that is subsequently cancelled or refunded, the Core Coins used against the relevant refunded amount will ordinarily be returned to the customer’s Core Coins balance.
Where Core Coins were redeemed as a discount on an order, any refund will ordinarily be allocated between the Core Coins discount and the amount paid by the customer in the same proportions as applied to the relevant purchase. A customer is not entitled to receive a cash refund for the portion of the price discounted using Core Coins.
Where an order remains payable following a cancellation, amendment or refund, we may also remove or adjust the Core Coins discount so that the correct balance becomes payable.
A reversal may result in a negative Core Coins balance where Core Coins earned from a subsequently refunded transaction have already been spent. Future Core Coins earned will first be applied against that negative balance.
We will not require a customer to make a cash payment solely to settle a negative Core Coins balance.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights a customer may have under the Consumer Protection Act or our Refund and Returns Policy.
11. Core Coins are discretionary promotional benefits, not money
Core Coins are a discretionary promotional benefit offered voluntarily by Core Catering Supplies. Participation in the Core Coins programme, the earning or awarding of Core Coins and the continued availability of any Core Coins benefit do not constitute an entitlement, vested right or guaranteed benefit.
No customer has an automatic right to receive, earn or continue receiving Core Coins merely by purchasing products from Core Catering Supplies. Core Catering Supplies retains sole discretion to determine whether a transaction, customer, account, product or promotion qualifies for Core Coins and may exclude or restrict eligibility in accordance with these terms.
Core Coins are awarded free of charge and are not purchased by the customer. They cannot be exchanged or paid out for cash, purchased, sold, transferred between customers or accounts, pooled, assigned or passed on as part of a deceased estate.
Core Coins do not earn interest, have no cash surrender value and are not a bank account, deposit, savings product, prepaid account or other financial product.
The existence of the Core Coins programme, or the previous earning or awarding of Core Coins, does not create any obligation on Core Catering Supplies to continue the programme or to award Core Coins on any future transaction.
Any entitlement to redeem Core Coins that have already been validly credited remains subject to these terms, including the provisions relating to expiry, refunds, errors, misuse, suspension, amendment and termination of the programme, and to applicable law.
12. Expiry of Core Coins
Core Coins expire 24 months after the date on which they are credited to the customer’s Core Coins account.
When Core Coins are redeemed, the oldest available Core Coins will be used first.
Any Core Coins not redeemed within 24 months after being credited will automatically lapse and be removed from the customer’s account. Expired Core Coins cannot be reinstated, exchanged for cash or otherwise refunded.
The expiry of one allocation of Core Coins does not affect Core Coins earned subsequently, each of which will have its own 24-month validity period.
Core Coins will also lapse when a customer account is permanently closed, whether at the customer’s request or by Core Catering Supplies, subject to applicable law and these terms.
13. Changes, suspension or termination of Core Coins
Core Catering Supplies reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to amend, restrict, suspend or terminate the Core Coins programme, or any part of it, at any time.
This includes the right to change the earning rate, redemption value, minimum redemption balance, redemption limits, qualifying products or transactions, eligibility requirements, promotional benefits and any other feature of the programme.
Core Catering Supplies may exercise these rights without being required to provide a reason and, where reasonably appropriate, may apply a change, restriction or suspension to a particular customer, category of customers, product, transaction, branch, sales channel, promotion or circumstance without being required to apply it universally to all customers or transactions.
Where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, misuse, system errors or security risks, or to protect Core Catering Supplies or the integrity of the programme, Core Catering Supplies may suspend, restrict or terminate participation or redemption immediately and without prior notice.
Except where immediate action is reasonably required as contemplated above, where Core Catering Supplies terminates the Core Coins programme entirely or makes a change that materially reduces the redemption value of Core Coins already credited to customers, we will provide reasonable notice and, where reasonably practicable and required by applicable law, an opportunity for affected customers to redeem existing Core Coins.
Nothing in these terms obliges Core Catering Supplies to continue operating Core Coins for any minimum period, to continue offering any particular earning or redemption rate, or to offer the programme or any benefit under it to all customers on identical terms, subject always to applicable law.
14. Errors, fraud and misuse
We may correct a Core Coins balance, reverse Core Coins, cancel a promotional benefit, suspend participation in Core Coins or close an account where we reasonably believe that:
- Core Coins were credited or redeemed in error;
- Core Coins or a welcome discount were obtained through fraud, misrepresentation or abuse;
- these terms have been breached;
- multiple accounts are being operated by or for substantially the same customer for the purpose of obtaining a benefit more than once; or
- an account has been accessed or used without authority.
We may correct an error whether the error operated in the customer’s favour or ours.
Where reasonably practicable, we will tell the customer what adjustment has been made and why.
Where an account is closed because of fraud, deliberate misuse or material breach of these terms, any remaining Core Coins may lapse.
15. Customer accounts and personal information
Customers are responsible for keeping their passwords and account access details secure and for keeping their email addresses and other account information current.
Customers should notify us promptly if they believe their account has been accessed or used without authority.
To administer Core Coins, we process customer account information, order history, Core Coins balances and transactional information and may perform the comparisons described in clause 7.
Personal information is processed in accordance with POPIA and our Privacy Policy.

We maintain electronic records of Core Coins earned, redeemed, reversed, expired and adjusted and may use these records, together with the relevant order and transaction records, to investigate any query relating to a Core Coins balance
